1. On-device first
On supported iPhones, ExcuseGPT generates excuses entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. The situation you type and the excuse you get back never leave your phone, and we never see them.
2. The cloud fallback
On devices without on-device support, your prompt is sent to a secure cloud model (Google's Gemini via Firebase) to draft the excuse. It is used only to generate that single response — we do not store your prompts on our servers and we do not use them to train AI models. This path is rate-limited to protect you and us from abuse.
3. What you choose to save
Excuses, history, and favorites live on your device by default. If you create an account, they sync to your private space in our database so they follow you across devices. You can delete any excuse — or your entire account and its data — at any time from the app.
4. Keeping it safe
Every generated excuse passes a content-safety check before it reaches you, so the app stays light and harmless. We do not sell your data to third parties, and all data in transit is encrypted. Keeping your secrets safe is our entire business model.
